Uttar Pradesh HistoryUttar Pradesh or Uttam Pradesh, names it anyways it still remains the same! In English Uttar Pradesh mean’s (“Northern Province”). State located in the north India. It shares the border with Nepal. Uttar Pradesh is the place where lord Shiva dwells and has played an important role in the contribution of Hindu culture in India. No wonder it is also called as the birthplace of Hinduism. This State has also contributed a lot in Buddhism, it is said that Chaukhandi Stupa is where Buddha sought his first disciples and Gautama Buddha spent his last days in Kushinagar where he attended his nirvana.

In time Uttar Pradesh was divided in many small kingdoms and it even shares the heritage of the Mughal Empire, Well if one talk about Mughal then no wonder Taj Mahal has to be in news, an antique tomb built by ShahJahan, located in Agra.

Amazingly the state has 80% of Hindus densely populated, 18% of the population practice Islam and the remaining 2% includes other cast along with the tribal population, the history is very old and fascinating and even derails Indian culture and civilization, when Aryans invaded India they first got settled in Uttar Pradesh after leaving there foot prints in Madhya Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh has signifies its history and this land has been rules by many in the course of historians, From Lord Rama to Lord Mount Baton, This state has seen it all, the most famous mythological stories of Ramayana and Mahabharata, is witnessed by Uttar Pradesh.

Uttar Pradesh even signifies that it was also ruled by Muslim Sultanates, which is when Mughal emperor Akbar gave India a new name called Hindustan. Fatehpur Sikri gained importance as the capital city of Akbar along with Agra; according to the history it was around17th century that Muslims conquered the city of Oudh. Vedic period was also originated from Uttar Pradesh.

The famous Mauryan dynasty was also based in Uttar Pradesh, famous kings like Asoka and Chandragupta Maurya ruled Uttar Pradesh for a decent period, were Chandragupta was devoted to Jainism and the word of Buddhism was spread by Asoka. Uttar Pradesh was also known as land of revolution, when it comes to revolt or revolution one cannot forget Mangal Pandey, the famous freedom fighter who started to revolt against British emperor, well no prices for guessing, he also belong to Uttar Pradesh, Freedom fighter like Motilal Nehru and Jawaharlal Nehru and many more leader of Uttar Pradesh who played significant role in getting freedom for India against British Rule. Well Uttar Pradesh still has many things to explore; one has to visit this magnificent place to enjoy all the legendary comfort and can even experience its history just by exploring!!
