IRCTC is an Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation that provides online reservation of tickets in India. The irctc website provides all types of services that relate to booking of train tickets that includes reservation enquiries, pnr enquiries, train enquiries, Train fare accommodation details and details of trains between different stations.
The users of irctc can make use of two of options that are available. The I-Ticket and the E-Ticket. If you opt for I-Ticket the tickets will be delivered to your address by courier. If you opt for E-Tickets then it is more convenient way of getting the ticket. You can take a print out of your ticket if you have a computer system at home or you can take a print out of the same from a net center that is available near your residence. The cancellation procedures will vary and they are slightly different for the two options.
Irctc has also introduced a new method of booking of tickets. They have introduced the irctc mobile, booking of tickets through the mobile phones. You could have access to this facility if you an irctc user and have a java enabled mobile phone. You could also use if you have a smart phone with GRPS service activated on your mobile phone. Payments for these booking can be done by credit card or cash card.
Tatkal booking is allowed by irctc for all passengers traveling in all classes except the first AC and the executive class. Ladies and general quota is not applicable for tatkal bookings. Tatkal booking is nothing but a means of obtaining the ticket for passenger who plan their last minute travel and who are not in a position to avail the reserved accommodations. Tatkal ticket booking can be done on payment of premium charges on the first come first served basis. However modification of ticket in any form is not provided for the tatkal tickets.
Tickets can be booked online from any part of the world but the tickets will be delvered only in the cities mentioned at the website. Customers or passengers can get their tickets delivered in any address be it a hotel, friend’s / relative’s address provided it is in the area of delivery. In these cases it is a must that passengers inform the hotel and the irctc well in advance. Also you should make sure that in case the person who is traveling is not available then the person receiving the ticket on behalf of the passenger should produce the authority letter given by the traveler permitting the person to receive the ticket along with the pnr number of the ticket and also his / her personal identification.
There are various type of concessions available for the passengers. But at present the web site offers concession to senior citizens for the purchase of the tickets in their name. Other concession tickets can be availed at the PRS counter at the railway stations.

Waste of time in spending irctc
Hi i booked ticket in IRCTC.CO.IN,but i did not take the print out when i booked.When i try to take print out,i forgot my user id and password due to that even i could not reset my password.
But i have received msg in mobile with the PNR no alone.
Can i travel in train without the printout as my tickets get confirmed?? plz advice what should i do next???

If one has lost a wait-listed railway ticket, how does one get it cancelled? Apparently one cannot get a ticket cancelled without actually showing the ticket but a duplicate ticket is not being issued as it was not a confirmed ticket. Please advice.
