Assam, basically, has the temperate climate. Its weather is distinguished by heavy rainfall and high level of humidity. This is referred to as the “tropical monsoon downpour” category. Summer Season
Summers in Assam take place from March until June. During the summer season, Assam residents experience extreme humid weather and frequent rain showers. Typically, the temperature ranges between 35 degrees and 38 degrees Celsius. Actually, the temperature in this state never goes above 38 degrees throughout the year. Thus, for tourists planning to visit this place, it would be recommended to wear lightweight cotton clothes for best convenience.
Monsoon Season
Monsoons in Assam relieve the people from extreme hot weather condition from the previous summer. In fact, the highest record of rainfall in the whole word belong to nearby areas of Mawsynram and Cherapunji. The typical rainfall every year is about 70 inches in the western area and 120 inches in the eastern area. Additionally, thunderstorms commonly called as Bordoicila are often experienced in the latter part of the day.
Winter Season
Assam winters are characterized by sparse rainfall and misty days. This season begins in early November and lasts until late February. The temperature is generally around 6-8 degrees Celsius. This season is said to be the finest period to visit this state in the northeastern area.
Spring Season and Autumn Season
Spring in Assam occurs from March until April while Autumn occurs from September to October. These are considered to be wonderful seasons of the year also since the temperature is only mild as well as the amount of rainfall. Thus, these are the most common months for tourist vacations in the state. With the comfortable weather condition, it isn’t necessary to bring special clothings for these seasons. Any light clothing will do.
